Forever Yours
Bronze cremation urns, contract, artists' ashes (subject to cremation)
2009
In 2009, The Art Guys created bronze urns in the forms of their heads, using 3-D scanning. Forever Yours is an artwork in which the buyer receives the urns, a signed contract, and the cremated ashes of both Michael Galbreth and Jack Massing (subject to their demise). In 2019, Michael passed away. His ashes have been placed in his urn. Jack is still among the living, but eventually he'll be placed in his urn too.
Sales price: $1,000,000
This is such a fascinating and thought-provoking concept, especially the way Forever Yours combines sculpture, mortality, humor, and the personal identities of the artists. Turning their own likenesses into bronze cremation urns makes the artwork feel both deeply personal and conceptually powerful. I also found the idea of the signed contract and future ashes particularly interesting, as it makes the artwork continue evolving beyond its original creation. Art that connects personal stories with such unusual forms can leave a lasting impression, much like discovering unique perfume brands in Pakistan that express individuality and personal identity.
